Welcome to Healthy Done Better where we understand living healthy is not always an easy thing to do. Almost everything seems to have high sugar, high sodium, and artificial ingredients.  Our goal is to make it easier for you to eat healthy with a market that has been filtered for lower sugar, lower sodium, higher fiber, spices for health, healthy fats, and better protein.

As the founder of Healthy Done Better, I faced a weight of 400 lbs, type 2 diabetes, and a body that was giving way under the pressure. Instead of just barely scratching the surface trying to fix my problem, I decided to dig deep and find a better solution. To dig into the knowledge of doctors and health proponents to put together the pieces of the puzzle to solve my problem. Little did I know that many key insights would come my way in the course of this journey.

I had known that what I really needed was not to go on a diet, but to change my lifestyle and understand how our bodies really work. I also started with the assumption that no one thing would be the magic bullet, and so I must find as many ways to attack the problem to be successful as I could.

The result I lost 165 pounds (74.84 kg) in the course of less than 15 months, reversed my type 2 diabetes, solved my sleep apnea arising from the weight. I began to understand what the key to much of eating was approaching things from a “glycemic first” view of food and food options and a trick I use to this day is to look at foods as if I were a diabetic and understand their impact, how to mitigate any negative effects and take responsibility for when “I choose” to eat less healthy.

At the same time I also realized so many things about why it is so hard to lose weight in the current food environment that I decided I had to do something. I had to make easier for people and me to eat healthy moving forward and I had to find a way to share all that I had learned with more people. Armed with this mission, and of course picking the worst time possible to start a business 🙂 (at the start of the COVID-19 crisis) we have fought and fought to make it happen.
